Sigma has recently announced plans to cut in half the price on one of its top DSLR cameras, the SD1, going from an MSRP of several thousand dollars to $3,300 MSRP. (Compare Prices)
It may take camera shops a bit longer to drop the price, but look around on the Internet for this 46MP camera, and you're sure to find the price cut offered someplace.
In addition, Sigma is going to redesign the DP1 and DP2 (pictured here). These rangefinder-style cameras will now be fitted with 46MP image sensors.
All three new models will have a slight name change: The SD1 Merrill, DP1 Merrill, and the DP2 Merrill. Richard Merrill is the late co-creator of the Foveon X3 image sensor technology.
